Rejuvenate Foam For A Cushion

Before you jump into replacing the foam in your seat cushions, give steam cleaning a try. Using a steam cleaner or even a wallpaper stripper can work wonders. Often, the problem is simply the foam becoming dehydrated and losing its bounce. So, hang in there - your comfy cushions might just need a little sprucing up.

The longer way

There are supplementary steps you can take to revitalise your weary and dehydrated cushions, making them brilliant once more! Mull over the forthcoming cushion-reviving tasks to give a boost to your sagging chair or sofa cushions. Were you aware that foam dries out over a period of time? You can rehydrate your cushion by introducing steam produced by your home iron on a high-steam setting to the foam! Absolutely, you can! Unzip your cushion cover and delve down to the pure foam layer, showering it with the heartening blast of steam. Don't worry if you're wary about peeling back the Dacron/batting layer - use an ironing cloth to prevent the Dacron from sticking onto your iron plate.

It's quite magical to observe the foam bouncing back to its original shape! Consider wrapping your current foam with a fresh piece of Dacron batting. This service is provided to our customers who love the firmness of their existing foam but crave a touch more 'pop' when it comes to the cushion appearance.

Here's how to go about it

Unfasten your cushion cover and carefully remove the Dacron from the foam, leaving you with the core foam. Get a large piece of Dacron batting sufficient to wrap the foam entirely. Use a spray-adhesive to coat both surfaces, then place the foam onto the Dacron and fold it over. For trimming, apply some adhesive to the surplus Dacron sides, stick it to the foam’s edges and trim. Replace the newly wrapped foam into the cushion cover and take pleasure in your rejuvenated cushion!

If your cushions are calling for a complete makeover, then cut a brand new piece of foam! Simply take measurements of your cushion cover from one seam to the other, along with the box height.
